आफुद्धारा निर्देशित चलचित्र प्रदर्शनको समय मुख -मुखमा आएको बेला दुई जना निर्देशक भने त्यसको पब्लिसिटीको लागि गजबले लागेका छन् ।

आउँदो भदौ ४ गते देखि प्रदर्शनमा आउन लागेको चलचित्र नाइ नभन्नु ल र २५ गतेबाट प्रदर्शनमा आउन लागेको चलचित्र "दीपशिखा"काको पब्लिसिटीको लागि निर्देशकद्वय विकास आचार्य र नरेश पौडेलले फेसबुकलाई समातेका छन् । पाँच दिन अघि निर्देशक नरेश पौडेलले आफ्नो फेसबुकको वालमा दिपशिखाको दुई वटा पोष्टर सार्वजनिक गरिदिए । पब्लिसिटीका लागि खर्च विनाको यो सवै भन्दा सजिलो माध्यमलाई पक्रिएका यि निर्देशकले आफ्नो फिल्मको जानकारी दिन गायिका आगन्तुक खरेल, निर्देशक सविर श्रेष्ठ, आरजे तथा भिजे प्रतिमा श्रेष्ठ, नायिका सोभित सिमखडा, दिलिप गौतम, केपी पाठकलगायतका चलचित्रकर्मीहरू संगसंगै करिब ५० जनालाई एक साथ टयाग पनि गरि दिए ।

Nepal: Open border and India’s security concerns

Nepal and India have been topographically more accessible neighbors. Both the countries have good relationship with each other at people’s level. However, there are some degrees of ups and downs in political relationship during the changing of guards in Nepal and India as well. But it wouldn’t matter much for both the nations, since transition period doesn’t last for long.

Unity, not ethnic division, for our success.

The problem of marginalization of many sub-groups in Nepal is well recognized and many solutions are suggested. Some even suggested the ethnic division of Nepal. However, it does not address the real issues, rather fossilize the problem and creates more. So far we are Nepali brothers and sisters. The ethnic division will make us Bahuns, Madheshis, Gurungs, Newars, Limbus etc., except Nepali. Our needs are protecting minority’s culture\language and inclusiveness in education\economy\politics. The solutions are recognizing overlapping multi-cultural and multi-lingual zones, and targeted application of education, economic opportunities and political inclusion to the most underprivileged sub-groups. The added political tools like ‘decentralization’ and ‘affirmative action’ are useful and important. In general, the strategy must be ‘unity’, not ‘division’, for success of all.

Indian Shag: a new bird record for Nepal

Ornithologists confirm yet another new species of bird for Nepal. Indian Shag is the name of the new bird that has been reported from Koshi Tappu by ornithologists Suchit Basnet and Badri Chaudhary. It is known as Phalacrocorax fuscicollis to the scientific world. The bird was first sighted on 19 March 2009 by Mr Basnet and Mr Chaudhary and subsequently photographed on 26 March 2009 in the same area by a visiting birder Hannah Philips. The bird was located along one of the main channels of Koshi River. Mr Suchit Basnet, who is also the Chair of Nepal Rare Birds Committee shares that 'With the finding of Indian Shag in Nepal, the current bird total for Nepal stands as 865 species.'

In a poor zoo of Nepal, a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more
than 1 kg meat a day.

The lion thought its prayers were answered when one US Zoo Manager visited
the zoo and requested the zoo management to shift the lion to the US Zoo.
